What I Hoped Your Kids Learned in Children's Church

November 7, 2010

As you may have heard, there was a fire in the building this morning. A controlled fire. The video above is actually a slow motion replay of what your kids witnessed.

Here's what I hoped they learned...We had the kids write on two separate sheets of paper. On yellow paper we wrote the stuff that Jesus wants us to do, and on the white paper we wrote stuff that he did not want us to do. Then we put all of the paper into one container.

I had let the kids know that we were going to be burning something this morning and they correctly assumed we would burn the sheets of paper that contained 'sins'. But when we put all of the paper into one container, we had a problem, how were we going to get rid of the bad stuff without getting rid of the good stuff? The answer is of course that with God all things are possible and he can remove the sins from our lives, while keeping the things that please him.

I had a great time this morning, and I hope your kids did too, but mostly I hope that they remember the reason for the fire.

Thanks to Everyone

October 31, 2010

There are so many people who helped make Trunk or Treat what it was this year. The weather was beautiful and thanks to cotton candy, hot dogs, nachos, donations, time, and energy inside various trunks we had at least 200 people come through our parking lot. Trunk or Treat is an outreach that makes ECC a special place to be.

The festive and fun atmosphere was awesome. Thanks again.

The CPX trip was a lot of fun (and slightly painful). Thanks to everybody who went and made memories with us. The haunted train ride still has a couple of seats left, so there's still time to climb aboard. And Trunk or Treat is next weekend so start thinking about your costume.

A Good Problem to Have

October 14, 2010
Thanks to everyone who made the bonfire and hayride a success! And a special thanks to our hosts.

We had more kids than we could fit in the bus and the van! We ate every single hot dog! These are problems that I can deal with. These are problems that I like. Because I know that the Children's team can handle it, as we proved tonight.

We learned from this outing and we are looking forward to more outings like this one. Make sure to check out our regular Wednesday meetings as we begin to work...
